Server Security & Cloudflare Setup

Lock down an exposed or overloaded server: Cloudflare WAF and bot rules, firewall, SSH hardening, and server-side tuning based on what the evidence shows.

// who it's for

You are getting spam, bot traffic or attacks, or your server struggles under load and you don't know why.

When this service helps

  • Bot traffic or repeated login attempts consume resources or fill application logs.
  • A Cloudflare proxy configuration exposes the origin or records the wrong visitor IP.
  • The server slows down or falls over under load, and you need to know whether it is the code, the database or the server size.

How the work is delivered

  1. 1.Establish a baseline

Review the relevant configuration and representative requests. Identify the bottleneck or exposure before recommending changes.

  2. 2.Apply scoped improvements

Agree and apply relevant firewall, Cloudflare, caching or application runtime changes. Check compatibility with login, forms and other dynamic routes.

  3. 3.Measure and document

Repeat the agreed checks and record before-and-after findings, configuration changes and remaining limitations.

What's included

  • Security audit with a prioritised list of findings
  • Cloudflare setup: DNS, WAF rules, rate limiting, bot protection
  • Origin IP hidden behind the proxy, direct access blocked
  • Real visitor IP logging behind CDNs
  • Nginx caching, gzip / brotli, HTTP/2, static asset tuning
  • PHP-FPM worker sizing against available memory and request load
  • MySQL query, index and buffer pool review
  • Redis cache suitability, invalidation and memory review
  • Server sizing and running-cost recommendations
  • Before / after performance measurements

Not included

  • Formal compliance certifications (SOC 2, PCI) — I can prepare the technical groundwork

What to send with your inquiry

Send example slow URLs or unwanted traffic patterns, your stack and any existing measurements. Cloudflare features depend on your plan; paid upgrades are agreed separately.

Common questions

Will my site go down during the work?

Changes are made in small, reversible steps, and risky ones are scheduled at your quietest hours.

Will Redis or a larger server fix the problem?

That depends on the bottleneck. I review request behavior, memory use and database work first, then explain whether code, SQL, process limits, caching or additional resources are the appropriate next step.

How do I pay?

Once you approve the written quote, I send a PayPal invoice. You can pay with a PayPal balance or a card through PayPal.
